In "Guerrillas of Pop", Tim Samuels explores the many guises of the censorship of popular music in European democracies. He considers the worlds of dancehall, French rap and even Arabian death metal music, where homophobia, sexism and violence are grist to the entertainment mill. And he asks a simple question: is this music really something we need to be protected from? Can't we decide for ourselves whether it's likely to deprave and corrupt, or just a load of shouty rubbish?
